LGBTQ+ London: The Complete Guide

London consistently ranks among the world's top five most welcoming cities for LGBTQ+ travellers — same-sex marriage has been legal since 2014, queer culture is woven into the fabric of several neighbourhoods, and Pride in London is one of the largest annual celebrations of any kind in the country.

Old Compton Street & Soho

Old Compton Street in Soho remains the symbolic and social heart of London's LGBTQ+ scene — cafes, bars and shops lining a pedestrianised stretch that's particularly lively on weekend evenings. Pride in London (usually last Saturday of June) brings a million-plus people to a parade route through central London — from Hyde Park Corner through Piccadilly and Regent Street to Trafalgar Square. The atmosphere is extraordinary; plan transport and arrival points in advance as the central area becomes very crowded. Fringe events run across the preceding weeks.
