Seasonal Food Events in London
Beyond the permanent markets, London has a strong calendar of seasonal food events — Christmas markets, summer festivals, pop-up dining experiences and annual food festivals that make certain times of year particularly interesting for food lovers.
Christmas Markets (November–January)
Several Christmas markets run across London from mid-November. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is the largest — free to enter, with food and drink stalls alongside fairground rides. Southbank Centre Winter Market runs along the Thames with an emphasis on independent artisan vendors. The Southbank and Borough Market area in December evenings is particularly atmospheric.
Summer Food Events (June–August)
Taste of London in Regent's Park (usually June) is the city's major annual restaurant festival — ticketed, with sections of top restaurants offering tasting portions. Street Feast operates outdoor night food markets at several East London locations through summer. Various outdoor food markets and pop-up rooftop dining concepts appear through the warmer months, announced mainly through social media and food press.
Ongoing Seasonal Highlights
Borough Market's calendar varies by season — oyster season (September–April), British asparagus (May–June) and game season (October–February) are all worth timing a market visit around if you're interested in seasonal produce.
