HMS Belfast
HMS Belfast is a Second World War Royal Navy cruiser permanently moored on the Thames near Tower Bridge, now a floating branch of the Imperial War Museum. Visitors can explore nine decks including the engine rooms, gun turrets, mess decks and bridge.
What to See
The ship played a significant role in the D-Day landings and Arctic convoys. Visitors can climb through the full working areas of the ship — the operations room, the boiler and engine rooms, sailors' mess decks and the bridge, giving a genuine sense of life aboard a WWII warship.
Tickets
Adult tickets around £22 booked online. Included in the London Pass. Allow 2 hours to explore properly — the ship is larger and more extensive than it appears from the riverbank.
Getting There
London Bridge station (Jubilee and Northern lines) is a 10-minute walk along the South Bank.
Tips
- Book online for a small discount over door prices.
- Wear comfortable shoes — there are steep ladders and narrow passages throughout.
- Combine with a Borough Market visit and South Bank walk on the same day.
